According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a film that will introduce a several new, unexpected faces to the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- including one specific character Marvel Studios has "always wanted" to use on-screen.

While speaking at the New York Film Academy, Feige spoke to the process that goes into choosing which character or characters will appear in a particular film. "Sometimes you're choosing [a] title hero, choosing which main character or main team you want to bring to the screen and often times, it's as you're making and developing the movie [asking,] 'Who will come into it?' and 'Who will fit into it?'" he said.

"The next Doctor Strange film, for instance, features some new MCU characters which will be making their debut in that movie," Feige continued. "You won't expect or won't guess who it is but we found a cool way to make it work because we want to make a particular type of movie there. And there was a character who we always wanted to do something with who will fit really well there."

Rumors suggest both Clea and Jericho Drumm will make their MCU debuts in the Doctor Strange sequel, though it is unclear if the character Feige is referring to is one of them, or someone else entirely. With Disney's recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox, another major question is if Marvel Studios hasn't used this character yet because they couldn't find a place for them, or because they weren't legally able to do so until now. So, fans will simply have to wait and see what the Multiverse of Madness has in store for them when the film arrives in 2021.
