As the Marvel Cinematic Universe's premier magic user, Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange has some pretty incredible abilities that allow him to contend with gods and such extraterrestrial threats as Thanos. However, just how Doctor Strange's powers work isn't always clear, so in this new video, we're going to break down the source of his powers.

One of the most common superpowers in the MCU is intelligence, and Doctor Strange is one of the smartest people in that world. Following a terrible car accident, Doctor Strange worked hard to learn the mystic arts and thus use magic. So as to help students learn magic, the MCU's main sorcerers keep a vast library filled with knowledge. Among those books contained in that library is the Book of Vishanti, which was key in Doctor Strange learning the mystic arts. All of the spells in the Book of Vishanti -- which never ends -- are designed to do good things for others. The book is also filled knowledge of, well, pretty much everything, giving the Sorcerer Supreme an incredible amount of knowledge and making them a formidable force.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could take going forward, though exactly which one it will take remains to be seen.
