WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Strange Academy #1 by Skottie Young, Humberto Ramos, Edgar Delgado and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale Wednesday, March 4.

The Marvel Universe is no stranger to the presence of special schools to guide gifted youngsters in the use of their powers and abilities. For example, Charles Xavier founded the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters to give mutants, who have always been considered outsiders, a place where they can feel welcomed and encouraged to explore their mutant powers. The Avengers would later open the doors to the Avengers Academy, with Earth's Mightiest Heroes helping to guide a group of teens who were at risk of becoming supervillains.

The next-great Marvel school is about to debut in Strange Academy #1 by Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos. Similar to the X-Men and Avengers schools, Strange Academy gathers a crop of blossoming magical teenagers together in New Orleans to help train them in the mystical arts. Of course, with Doctor Strange's name in the title of the school, he will obviously play a major role in the new Marvel comics. However, Stephen Strange is wise enough to recruit some of the Marvel U's most well-respected and popular magical heroes along as special-guest teachers for Strange Academy's first class of students.

After welcoming the first-year students to Strange Academy, Doctor Voodoo introduces his staff. Doctor Strange supporting characters Zelma and the Ancient One will aide Doctor Voodoo, along with a Mindful One creature wearing a red bowtie and suit. The Mindful One is a change to the Mindless One monsters that typically plague our magical heroes.

Next, we meet the special-guest teachers who will pop in and out throughout the year: Daimon Hellstrom, Nico Minoru of the Runaways, the Avenger Scarlet Witch, Magik of the X-Men and Shaman. The kids are understandably excited to have a Who's Who of the magical superhero community take a part in their studies. You really couldn't ask for a better group of sorcerers to instruct the next generation of supernatural would-be superheroes.

Doctor Strange eventually makes a surprise entrance and brings with him the academy's first threat. He enlists the students to help him take care of a creature called a throzil, and they eagerly jump to action. Friendships and rivalries between students are already starting to form, which should make for one entertaining school year.

Strange Academy #1 goes on sale March 4 from Marvel Comics.
