Marvel Studios Japan released three new portraits of Doctor Strange.

The new art comes from three famous manga artists: Boichi, who recently completed his work on the Dr. Stone series; Hiro Mashima, the creator of Fairy Tail and Edens Zero; and finally, Chuya Koyama, the author of the critically acclaimed Space Brothers. All three artists drew the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Sorcerer Supreme in their own distinct styles. The three illustrations were revealed on Marvel Studios Japan's official Twitter and were released to promote the upcoming premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in the region.

Boichi is a South Korean artist who is now best known for creating the art in the Weekly Shonen Jump series Dr. Stone, which first premiered in 2017 and concluded its story earlier this year. He is also doing the art for the One Piece spinoff episode A. Chuya Koyama is the creator of Space Brothers, an award-winning comedy manga about two brothers who both dream of going into space. Koyama's manga was adapted into both a 99-episode anime series and a live-action TV movie. Hiro Mashima is arguably the best known of the trio and is the creator of Fairy Tail, a fantasy manga that has sold over 72 million copies worldwide. He is currently working on his latest series, the sci-fi adventure Edens Zero, which began serialization in 2021 and is still on-going.

Marvel is relying heavily on domestic talent to promote the Strange sequel in Japan. In addition to the new artwork, the studio recently revealed a promotional collaboration with Hololive, a team of some of the world's most popular Vtubers (virtual YouTubers.) The streamers will host a special livestream promoting the new movie, which will include a visit to Japan's Doctor Strange-themed pop-up cafe, as well as a discussion of the original Doctor Strange movie and its upcoming sequel, the latter of which brings the Illuminati to the MCU. A poster for the crossover featured virtual personalities such as Shirakami Fubuki, Inugami Korone and Laplus Darkness.
