The Eye of Agamotto is one of the most powerful magical artifacts in the Marvel Universe. Granted to Doctor Strange by the Ancient One, it is one of the Sorcerer Supreme's greatest weapons. It is known to grant its wielder clairvoyance and knowledge, and it was revealed to hold the Time Stone in the MCU films.

However, the Eye of Agamotto has shown the ability to do far more than this in the Marvel comics. The artifact can do more than even the most observant Marvel fan would imagine, and those are the gifts of the Eye of Agamotto we are going to talk about today.

10 There Are Actually Three Eyes

There are actually three Eyes of Agamotto, and Doctor Strange only possesses one of them. He has the Eye of Prescience, which has been the heirloom of Sorcerer Supremes since Agamotto himself was one.

Sadurang, a dragon sorcerer from Asgard and student of Dormammu has another Eye. Kulan Gath had another Eye of Agamatto for some time, but it was recently taken by Conan the Barbarian in Savage Avengers.

9 Teleportation

Thanos Infinity Gauntlet

The Eye of Agamatto has been used to teleport people from one point to another, whether it be through instantaneous teleportation or opening portals to take one from one side of the universe to the other.

The prime example of this is when Doctor Strange transported himself and others across the known universe to fight Thanos when he possessed the Infinity Gauntlet.

8 Healing

The Eye of Agamatto, as a conduit for white magic, has also been used to heal the wounds of others and bring them back from the brink of death. This was once used to heal Doctor Strange's fellow Defender, Nighthawk.

It connected the life forces of several Defenders with that of Nighthawk to heal him. This was a powerful instance of healing as well, given that Nighthawk was close to perishing at the moment.

7 Portals Between Dimensions

The Eye of Agamatto has been stolen from Doctor Strange on a few occasions, and one of the direst instances of this happening was during the "Xenogenesis: Day of the Demons" story.

A cult called the Agents of Fortune stole the Eye from Stephen, and they used the artifact to open a portal between our universe and the Demon Realm. This allowed demonic hordes to invade our world before Doctor Strange and Nighthawk were able to close the portal and regain the Eye for Stephen.

6 Time Manipulation, Even In The Comics

Marvel Comics' Doctor Strange ready to cast a spell

Like in the Marvel films, the Eye of Agamotto has been shown to manipulate the flow of time. It has once been shown to use local time manipulation to repair a broken statue. Another instance was shown in the What If? Age of Apocalypse collection where X-Man stole the Eye to open a rift in time with the intent of stopping Legion from killing Professor Xavier and kicking off the Age of Apocalypse.

Unfortunately for Nate Grey, this plan didn't quite work out as he intended, and it spawned more timelines in which the Age of Apocalypse took hold without changing his own

5 Weaken And Repel Evil

The Eye of Agamatto has been shown the ability to weaken demons, dark sorcerers, other forms of evil. As a conduit of white magic, it can act as a poison for these beings. It is also supposed to be inoperable should one of these beings wield the Eye of Agamotto, but it has been fooled.

The Agents of Fortune were able to use the Eye on Xenogenesis, and Baron Mordo, Loki, and the Hood have been able to wield the Eye in the past. It has rejected others though, and the Sorcerer Supreme is its true master.

4 Levitation

Doctor Strange has also used the Eye of Agamotto to levitate objects and people without the use of spells or Strange's own Cloak of Levitation.

The upper end of this ability has not been shown, but it was able to lift the likes of Hulk and the Thing while Strange.

3 Banishment

Like any good magical artifact of immense power, the Eye of Agamatto can banish demons and dark beings back into the dimension from whence they came. It's been used to repel the likes of Dormammu and many lesser demons.

It's pretty useful to send the evil beings threatening you to another dimension entirely.

2 Suspended Animation

The Eye of Agamotto can also place beings in suspended animation and has been used to pacify and protect fellow Defenders.

Doctor Strange has used it to protect Professor X, the Hulk, and others at various times in his career as the Sorcerer Supreme.

1 Powerful Magic Blasts

Doctor Strange Ghost Rider

The Eye of Agamotto has also been shown to be a weapon unto itself. Doctor Strange has been able to use the Eye to project powerful blasts of mystical energy to protect himself without even needing to wield a spell.

The energy has come from the Eye itself, and it's unknown how much power lay within.
