In Doctor Strange: Damnation, readers have been witnessing a hellish battle for the souls of Las Vegas and, by extension, the entire world. With the utmost of honorable intentions, Stephen Strange, the newly re-crowned Sorcerer Supreme, mustered all the magic he could and raised the city of Vegas and its citizens back from the dead.

But while the city of sin, which had been utterly destroyed during the events of Secret Empire, was returned to its former glory, it came with one big, glaring addition: A giant black tower, raised right out of Hell.

Las Vegas and its residents returned from the great beyond, but they brought with them Mephisto and his demonic forces. Now, every person in the vicinity of the city is falling victim to the monstrous villains. What's worse, Doctor Strange and the Avengers -- Thor, Falcon, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel and Black Panther -- have all been turned into Mephisto's Ghost Riders. With flaming skulls for heads, they obey his every command.

The situation is more than dire. And now, the fight for Las Vegas has just claimed its first victim, a Marvel Comics mainstay and fan-favorite character: Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider, is dead.
