Making his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a 2016 solo film, Doctor Strange's origin story saw the character trade in the scrubs of a doctor for supernatural attire, as he became the Master of the Mystic Arts. Marvel Studios' Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding shared concept art that features an unused costume design for Stephen Strange that's both faithful to the original comics and a unique take on the Sorcerer Supreme.

Meinerding's artwork sees Doctor Strange walking in a city, wearing the unused suit. Upon first glance at the first image of Meinerding's Instagram post, viewers can see just how the suit differs from the one seen in the movies, such as the Eye of Agamotto having a diamond shape instead of a circular. Also, the Cloak of Levitation has a somewhat more comic-accurate design, save for such changes as the gold lining on the collar and the red text featured on one side.

The second image in the post features a close-up of Doctor Strange, which also gives a closer look at both the patterns and some of the aforementioned text on the cloak. Meinerding recently shared a similar-looking piece of concept art, though that featured a different look for the character.

Doctor Strange is set to return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
