Actor Benedict Cumberbatch has teased the state Doctor Strange will be in when Avengers 4 rolls around.
Cumberbatch, who appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, deflected many of the host's questions about the upcoming blockbuster, but he did jokingly reveal Strange's location in Avengers 4. “I’m dust, baby,” Cumberbatch said. “I’m just out there. I’m in the ether. I’m probably part of your food chain. I’m in your stomach somewhere.”
Doctor Strange was, of course, turned to dust by Thanos' snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. However, the character is expected to return for a sequel to his 2016 solo film. Of course, like with Spider-Man: Far From Home, it's doubtful Marvel Studios will officially announce anything ahead of production, as Feige has confirmed the studio isn't looking to reveal post-Avengers 4 plans until summer 2019. However, Benedict Wong did seem to confirm that Doctor Strange could start filming at the end of the year.
The untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 3, 2019. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Marvel’s Avengers 4 stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Benedict Wong, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie.
