Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Xochitl Gomez discussed what she would like to see explored in America Chavez's future.

In an interview with Phase Zero, Gomez shared that she is excited to delve further into America's backstory whenever the multiverse-hopping hero shows up next, stating how happy she is with the fan response to her character. "I mean, I haven't gotten told anything yet. But obviously, there's a lot more to America," she said." I think we've only seen a brief introduction to America, and I'm very proud of how she's been received and that people love her and want to see more of her. And it just really warms my heart, because I feel like she's got lots of backstory that's just kind of been waiting to be told, and she's got more to discover about herself and her powers, and her moms of course, and all that. I think there's that."

Gomez then went on to talk about America's mentorship under Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Wong (Benedict Wong), noting how pivotal it is to have the character master the powers she has been blessed with. "It was fun just because you get to see these two people that don't... You would never pair these two people up, ever, and then you just see how much they kind of need one another," she said. Gomez went on to explain that America is the sort of hero that, at this early stage of her life, needs some kind of guidance and mentorship, achieved through a "disciplined instructor" such as Wong. "Cause especially being on the run and being alone, you need someone to kind of be there for you and call home," the actor said.

Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marks America Chavez's debut in the MCU and serves as her only appearance to date. The film follows the eponymous sorcerer as he and his allies embark on an adventure across the multiverse as they're hunted by a new danger threatening to tear down the barriers between worlds. The movie received generally positive reviews, with critics praising Raimi's direction, the visual effects, the musical score and the performances of the cast, especially Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and Gomez.
