The following contains spoilers of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, currently in theaters.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw new worlds of the Marvel Cinematic Universe come to life with Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) venturing into the multiverse to save America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) from a corrupted and violent Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). While the film gave audiences a handful of looks at the various worlds and worlds between worlds in the MCU, there's still a larger question of what worlds and paths Nexus beings could walk should they want to travel the multiverse.

One example of this is loosely teased at the end of the film when Wanda Maximoff, who realized the errors of her ways, destroyed the Darkhold and all others in the multiverse by sacrificing herself. However, before the temple on Wundagroe Mountain fully crumbled, a red flash was seen. While this could have been her final magical act, it could also be a tease for her future. However, with Wanda having the potential to be a Nexus being like America, where could she have gone, and what could this mean for her future as a witch and person trying to find her way back to the light?

The Nexus Of All Realities Is the Perfect Hub For Wanda To Hide

Man-Thing Nexus of all Realities

Much like the gap junction shown to house The Book of Vishanti, The Nexus of All Realities is a realm between the various universes in the Marvel Universe. In the comics, the world is protected by the Man-Thing, and its entrance lies in the Florida Everglades. Those who can walk within it may find themselves in a mind-bending space with pathways that reach any and all known realities.

Since Wanda is a Nexus being in the comics, the stress and near-death experience at the film's end could have sent her to the Nexus. From there, she could venture to more realms or choose to remain there as penance until she's needed once again.

The Witches' Road Would Be the Next Logical Step For Wanda's Journey

Scarlet Witch witches road

In the Scarlet Witch comic series, Wanda was shown to travel through the Witches' Road. Though this realm isn't as well known as The Nexus of All Realities, it holds its own powerful secrets. For starters, Sorcerers are the only beings who could tread the road. It's a road of powerful magical energies that Wanda was shown to have walked multiple times in her comic run. She also encountered her mother there, who aided her in a powerful final battle.

If Wanda survived her sacrifice, the Witches' Road would be a smart step for her to take. Not only would it get her better acquainted with her powers, but it would also give her more answers to their true origin and maybe a reunion with at least one parent.

Mephisto's Realm Could Be the Penance Wanda Would Deserve

In the comics, Mephisto's Realm was never the true Hell in the biblical sense. Instead, it was one of the many dimensions associated with the afterlife. Mephisto was one of its lords and also the one to give Johnny Blaze the power of the Ghost Rider. While it may not be a true Hell, it's still a dimension where damned souls are taken to face judgment for their crimes.

Like Doctor Strange, Wanda was guilty of this, as she used the Darkhold to dream walk into a variant of herself. When the temple collapsed on her, it's possible that she was taken directly to Mephisto's Realm to face judgment and perhaps endure punishment for her actions. While she may feel it was deserved, it could be a basis for her next chapter as a prisoner needing to escape a fate she earned through actions she had no control over.

Wanda Maximoff made many mistakes during her use of the Darkhold. However, she showed that she was still a good person deep down and fixed her wrongdoings by destroying the Darkhold forever. Nevertheless, her sacrifice, should this not be her end, would serve as another doorway to her next arc. Before, she was a reluctant hero who lost more than she gained. Now, having grown into a powerful witch coping with her grief, she could grow into someone more inclined to be a hero out of a desire to repent and protect others from the loss and darkness she felt.

To see decide what path Wanda may walk down, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters.
