Most of the speculation about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is about which characters will show up in the movie. From multiversal variants to new versions of characters yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many fans expect to see all kinds of cameos and Easter Eggs. What might be flying under the radar, however, is the potential tease of Marvel's own version of Jurrasic World.

One scene in the movie's newest trailer shows Doctor Strange and what seems to be America Chavez jumping into different dimensions, with one of them being a prehistoric environment. This has fans roaring out that the Savage Land could show up in the MCU, bringing a whole host of other classic Marvel concepts and characters along with it.

What Is the Savage Land in the Marvel Universe?

Marvel Savage Land

Debuting officially in The X-Men #10, the Savage Land is a prehistoric island in Antarctica that was created for a sort of experiment on Earth by aliens called Nuwali, who wanted to see how life would develop in a contained capacity. The island that would become the Savage Land was outfitted with technology that later separated it from the rest of Antarctica, allowing it to remain a tropical environment that maintained species like dinosaurs and saber-toothed tigers.

A man named Robert Plunder would search the Savage Land centuries later, and though he would be killed by native Man-Ape tribesman, his son Kevin would survive and become the adventurer Ka-Zar. He and his later wife Shanna the She-Devil would become the Marvel Universe equivalents to Tarzan and Jane and assist the X-Men in their many adventures in the area. After some time, the Savage Land being was given the status of an international wildlife reserve in the pages of Marvel Comics.

How Could the Savage Land Factor Into the MCU?

In the trailer for Doctor Strange 2, a lush tropical environment is briefly seen, with two dinosaurs fighting tooth and claw as Doctor Strange and America dangle helplessly throughout the multiverse. This likely is the Savage Land, and its introduction into the MCU could take different forms. For instance, if this is simply another alternate universe, the Savage Land could be an entire Earth unto itself, showing what would have happened if dinosaurs survived. This would mean, of course, that any chance of it showing up in future Marvel Cinematic Universe movies would be slim to none.

It's also possible that the prehistoric location is on the main Earth of the MCU. If so, a decent bit of Doctor Strange 2 could take place there, allowing for the introduction of Ka-Zar, Shanna and their saber-toothed pet Zabu. Better yet, if the rumors of Professor X and mutants as a whole debuting in this movie are true, it could mean that further adventures of the X-Men on the Savage Land would be featured in the MCU. This could actually mirror the Ultimate Universe, where the Savage Land served as Magneto's base in the same way that Genosha and Asteroid M did in the 616 Universe. Either way, Doctor Strange is unlikely to be trekking through his own version of Jurassic World for too long, but its introduction would be noteworthy nonetheless.

To possibly see the Savage Land roar onto the big screen, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters May 6.
