An absolutely brutal extended fight sequence from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featuring Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) has been released online.
On Instagram, Liang Yang, who has coordinated stunts and fighting on such films as 2020's Wonder Woman 1984 and 2022's Morbius, shared an extended sequence from his work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that did not make it into the film. The battle takes place early in the movie, when Scarlet Witch takes on the warriors of Kamar-Taj.

Maximoff's turn to the dark side began in 2021's WandaVision, the first live-action Marvel Studios series to release on Disney+. In the show, Maximoff created a new reality in Westview, New Jersey, out of her grief over having lost Vision. The sitcom-styled world saw her creating a life for herself and even a family. However, in the end, she was forced to give all of those things up, losing her children in the process. Still, Maximoff got possession of the powerful Darkhold, and WandaVision ended with an ominous sequence of her reading the book.
The Darkhold ends up corrupting Scarlet Witch, and she serves as the antagonist of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the film, Maximoff sets out to steal the powers of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a young woman with the ability to traverse the multiverse, in order to get her children back. She's opposed in this endeavor by Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), and she ends up killing many people, including the warriors of Kamar-Taj, to get what she wants. The ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is somewhat ambiguous as to Maximoff's fate. However, Olsen has said that she doesn't believe her character is gone for good.
At the box office, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earned more than $955 million worldwide, beating out its 2016 predecessor, which took in around $677 million. Critically, though, the sequel was less well-received and, at the time of writing, holds a 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as compared to the original's 89 percent.
