Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo will reportedly return for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

According to The Illuminerdi, Mordo is a lock for the upcoming sequel, with Ejiofor reprising the role as a core character. The outlet has also reported that Clea, Brother Voodoo and America Chavez could pop up in the film, but nothing is confirmed by Disney or Marvel Studios at this time.

Introduced in 1963's Strange Adventures #111 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Mordo is a friend-turned-foe of the Sorcerer Supreme. He made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as an apprentice of the mysterious Ancient One in Doctor Strange. However, when he learned she used power from the Dark Dimension for her longevity, he began to spiral. Disturbed by this revelation, he left her order -- and then he took a sinister turn. He attacked another magic user and declared the world has "too many sorcerers," which set him up to be a villain in the sequel. As such, his return makes sense for the franchise.

Officially announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego this past July, the sequel will reportedly involve Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, along with the introduction of a mystery character that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has wanted to incorporate into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for some time. However, few other details about the project have been revealed through official channels.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. The film hits theaters May 7, 2021.
