Fans of Sam Raimi's classic horror-comedy film Evil Dead II will supposedly find plenty to love in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Speaking to Empire, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige opened up about the type of action fans will see in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, noting that Raimi's influence will be obvious. "We would give notes like, ‘This action is cool – you’re competing with Avengers and Spider-Man, no problem – but don’t forget the Sam Raimi parts,'" said Feige. "You will see just how Sam Raimi it is, in ways that will make fans of Evil Dead II very happy."

While Raimi is arguably most known for his work directing the original Spider-Man trilogy, the filmmaker made a name for himself with the brutal horror Evil Dead in 1981, which was followed by Evil Dead II in 1987. The sequel quickly became a cult classic, introducing a more absurd, action-focused tone to the franchise.

Fans of Evil Dead II won't just be pleased to see some of the film's tone captured in Multiverse of Madness. Bruce Campbell, who plays protagonist Ash Williams in every Evil Dead installment, confirmed that he shot a scene for the upcoming superhero blockbuster. Despite his long working history with Raimi, Campbell is unsure of if his part was cut from the final movie due to its extensive reshoots. "The deal with Doctor Strange is interesting," Campbell said. "A majority of the film was reshot extensively, so I have no idea what's in there and what isn't. I did a cool scene with a character that's been beloved for years, and… we'll have to see what ends up in the movie. I don't know if it's still in there. It's a pretty cool part."

Beyond Campbell, Multiverse of Madness will introduce a wealth of new characters into the MCU. Patrick Stewart is expected to reprise his role as Professor X from Fox's X-Men films, a part which was heavily teased in the movie's trailer. Some fans also speculate that Deadpool will make a brief cameo, despite actor Ryan Reynolds insisting that he will not appear in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Fans wanting to see how Evil Dead II inspired some of the action in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can catch the film when it premieres in theaters on May 6.
