Stephen Strange finds himself in the clutches of X-Men founder Professor X and familiar robots in a piece of purported concept art for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The alleged art from Doctor Strange 2 features the Sorcerer Supreme, minus his Cloak of Levitation, in electronic handcuffs as two Ultron bots present the Marvel Cinematic Universe hero to Professor X (in his signature hoverchair) and another unidentified character. It's also known where this reported scene takes place, though there are six-sided star symbols on two of the metal walls. As for the character next to Charles Xavier, the account sharing the art speculates that it is Doctor Strange adversary Baron Mordo, though it is hard to verify since only the back of his head is visible.RELATED: Spider-Man 3 Made Raimi Swear Off Superhero Films - So Why Direct Doctor Strange 2?

There have also been other leaked images from Doctor Strange 2 that showed Professor X playing a role in the MCU sequel, though just like with this leak, it is hard to validate their authenticity.

An August report claimed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would introduce Fox's X-Men characters into the MCU. Specifically, Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch would face-off against one of these X-Men. "In Doctor Strange 2 Wanda will fight someone from the Fox-Verse (I am not allowed to reveal who it is) but could top this fight," insider Daniel Richtman said in response to a clip from Avengers: Infinity War of Doctor Strange fighting Thanos. Of course, WandaVision featured the surprising appearance of Evans Peters, who portrayed Quicksilver in the X-Men franchise, as Wanda's dead brother Pietro. However, this was revealed to be a part of Agatha Harkness' evil plan in the final episodes of WandaVision, with Pietro actually being one of the residents of Westview.

Fans will get to see a different side of Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2, according to Elizabeth Olsen. "I wrapped WandaVision on a Wednesday and flew to London on a Friday to continue playing this part [in Doctor Strange 2]," Olsen recalled in the middle of August. "I could have used getting out of the mindset, though, because they were totally different utilizations of the character and people would have had more time to understand WandaVision had we not just wrapped."

Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the titular Doctor Strange, would also like to see a team-up with the X-Men. "We've talked about this," the actor said while referring to his The Power of the Dog co-star Kodi Smit-McPhee, who played Nightcrawler in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, 2018's Deadpool 2 and 2019's Dark Phoenix. "We loved working with each other, so we would love to do that jam. Of course it'd be a very different vibe, but yeah."

"It's an honor to play both sides of the spectrum," Smit-McPhee added. "But it would be even more an honor to cross paths again with someone you grew so close with on something so theatrical, something like this, and then to go to something fun like that -- it would be great."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is due to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
