Future Young Avenger Xochitl Gomez shared how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness co-star Elizabeth Olsen encouraged her.

Gomez discussed her big role as America Chavez for the latest issue of Disney twenty-three magazine and revealed that the Scarlet Witch actor helped her feel more comfortable about joining the MCU. "She told me that Marvel really means it when they say they want your input," Gomez shared. "She said I should never hesitate to share an idea with them or give them feedback. I am glad she told me that because it gave me more confidence to put my two cents in whenever I had something useful to add. I am just happy I can say Lizzie Olsen gave me advice!"

Outside of the advice, Olsen has been a big inspiration for Gomez, who's been slowly building up her own acting résumé since 2016. "I watch every move she makes," Gomez said. "I loved watching her prepare for scenes because she's such an incredible actress. And she's just so cool and friendly; I really like her."

Created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta for 2011's Vengeance #1, America Chavez is best known for her time on the Young Avengers. Hailing from an otherworldly plane called the Utopian Parallel, she was forced to flee when the Demiurge struck and devastated the realm. Her mothers sacrificed their lives to save her, and America eventually ended up on Earth-616, teaming up with Kid Loki, Kate Bishop, and Wanda's children, Wiccan and Speed, along with other young heroes. America can not only fly and has super-strength, but she can punch and kick star-shaped holes into the multiverse. While her backstory has recently come into question in the comics, it's likely the MCU will borrow various elements when it brings her to life.

No details about her role in Doctor Strange 2 have been revealed yet, but America has been prominent in the various trailers and merchandise for the film so far. A photo of America and Wong even showed off her comics-accurate costume and its subtle nods to her being queer. So far, there's only been speculation about a Young Avengers franchise from Marvel Studios, but with so many of the characters appearing on the big and small screen, it's likely only a matter of time before America finds her teammates.

Xochitl Gomez will make her debut as America Chavez when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters May 6.
