Marvel's toy line for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness pays homage to America Chavez's comic book counterpart in box art.

Box art from America's Marvel Legends action figure shows that the character's upcoming appearance won't stray far from the source material. The art depicts America in a comic-accurate denim jacket while she pounds her hands together and smirks towards the viewer. This pose is a clear recreation of Jamie McKelvie's variant cover for 2017's America #1, the hero's first solo title.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Xochitl Gomez plays America Chavez, a young hero with the power to travel between dimensions. Multiverse of Madness follows Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange following his actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as he seemingly attempts to repair the fabric of reality.

Many believe that America's debut in the upcoming film may also lay the foundation for a new superhero team, the Young Avengers. In the comics, America allies herself with Kid Loki, Wiccan, Speed, Patriot, Stature and Kate Bishop, who have all appeared in recent MCU projects in one way or another. However, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm that these characters will cross paths anytime soon.

While Multiverse of Madness will introduce fans to the MCU's newest hero, the film will also welcome a returning favorite. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff will reportedly factor heavily into the film's plot, off the back of WandaVision. Now known as the Scarlet Witch, Olsen teased that her turn as Wanda will be different from anything fans have seen before.

Though Marvel Studios has laid out a star-studded lineup of heroes for Strange's sequel, there is still a veil of secrecy surrounding Multiverse of Madness' villains. Multiple antagonists are currently attached to the project, including a dark doppelganger of Doctor Strange shown briefly in the film's teaser trailer.

The appearance of this cosmic counterpart has led many to theorize that What If...?'s evil Strange will be taking on the good Doctor in Multiverse of Madness. Additionally, the film will bring back Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, a one-time ally of Doctor Strange who abandoned Stephen in order to avoid contributing to what he perceived as the abuse of the mystic arts.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
