One of the most anticipated MCU movies, and perhaps the most important for its future, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theatres in the summer of 2022. As the Marvel universe seems to head for a multiverse future, with WandaVision already showing how Wanda could create her own reality in the Hex, Loki will explore the Time Variance Authority and multiple versions of the God of Mischief, and there are plenty of rumors and evidence for a multiverse centered around Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Doctor Strange 2 will likely culminate this all together and hopefully give fans a huge wealth of alternative universes and dimensions to explore. Scott Derrickson, who was going to direct the movie, even claimed that the multiverse doesn't just include alternate timelines, but also distant worlds and unusual dimensions, making fans even more excited for the film.

10 Sam Raimi's Spider-Verse Could Be An Early Stop

There are plenty of rumors flying around that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be a huge crossover event featuring multiple versions of Spidey, including Tom Holland's from the MCU, and maybe Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's take on the character. While these haven't been confirmed, the confirmation that Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining the cast, as well as Alfred Molina playing the infamous Doc Ock once again has certainly caught fans' attention.

Seeing as Raimi was the director of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy, it would make perfect sense for Doctor Strange to visit that world and would provide an explanation for Molina's return and introduction to the MCU.

9 The Dark Dimension Is Also A Given

Dormammu

One of the more well-known and popular Marvel dimensions is the home of Dormammu and Umar, the Dark Dimension. This realm was already visited by Doctor Strange in his first solo outing, when he came to bargain to Dormammu, but was only briefly seen, and it is thought that Dormammu will almost definitely appear once again.

In the realm where time doesn't exist, Dormammu agreed to leave Earth alone, but with the help of Mordo, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who also helped him in the comics, who could draw power from the Dark Dimension like the Ancient One on his now villainous quest, sending Strange straight back to Dormammu. It also means Strange's comic book love interest Clea may be introduced.

8 Could The Negative Zone Introduce The Fantastic Four?

Reed Richards Stretching

In a world composed of antimatter, where everything moves in reverse and is at risk of immediate annihilation as it also nears an implosion, or in other words, a Big Crunch, the Negative Zone is home to a very important Marvel family in the comics. That family is the Fantastic Four, who frequently visits the world after Reed Richards discovered it after building a portal between the worlds.

Ever since Disney's Fox takeover, fans have continued to speculate how the MCU will introduce Marvel's first family, and one of the most popular and easier options is via the multiverse, so it would make sense for their introduction, or at least a teaser of their whereabouts to take place in Doctor Strange 2.

7 Otherworld Is Linked To Some New Characters In The MCU

Black Knight Fight

In a world reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, Otherworld is home to Marvel's more magical and mythical storylines full of shifting power structures, kingdoms, domains, and complex fictional religions. but given the popularity of the previously named franchises, it could be a good move for Marvel to introduce their own version.

While this may seem like a longshot, the introduction of the Black Knight, played by Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, who is strongly linked to that ancient world, in the Eternals movie adds fuel to the fire, as well as the easter eggs and references pointing towards the arrival of Captain Britain to the MCU.

6 Nightmare's Role Could Mean The Dream Dimension Makes An Appearance

Nightmare Dreamscape

One heavily rumored casting news for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the introduction of the incredibly evil Nightmare as the main antagonist for the movie. With the power to invade the dreams of anyone, Nightmare is a very scary villain, fitting the bill for this sequel seeing as it is meant to be the MCU's first-ever horror movie.

Along with Nightmare though, comes his world, the sub-realm of the Dream Dimension, the Nightmare World. So if Nightmare is introduced, it would make sense for Strange to have to visit the Dream Dimension as a result. WandaVision's post-credits scene may have also pointed towards Nightmare as she reads the Darkhold, and we hear her children screaming in the background.

5 Limbo Is Another Hell Dimension That Could Be Used

Magik Limbo

Carrying on with the theme of scary and dark dimensions that could pop up in Doctor Strange's horror movie, the Hell Dimension of Limbo is another version of the afterlife dimensions that could be awesome to see. The demonic realm is associated heavily with Magik of the X-Men, but seeing as Disney now has the rights to 20th Century Fox, this dimension could feature.

But there is also another version of Limbo that could have even more of an impact on the MCU. This Limbo is a pocket dimension that exists outside of time and is ruled by a version of Kang the Conqueror, who is set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, so this could be the perfect set up.

4 The Witches' Road Would Make Perfect Sense Given The Events Of WandaVision

WandaVision Scarlet Witch costume finale

Given the introduction of Wanda Maximoff as the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness in the Disney+ show WandaVision, the introduction of a plane only accessible for female sorcerers would make perfect sense. This realm was introduced by James Robinson in his Scarlet Witch comic series and enabled Wanda to travel between different realms.

Wanda is set to play a big role in Doctor Strange 2 and is even rumored to be the one who creates this Multiverse of Madness as she tries to bring her children back, so her accessing the Witches' Road could be key for the upcoming movie.

3 Marvel Zombies May Finally Make Their Appearance

Colonel America Steve Rogers Marvel Zombies

As previously mentioned, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be Marvel's first-ever horror film, so one universe that is probably one of the scariest in the entire comic book world is the home of Marvel Zombies. If Nightmare is indeed the villain, him playing with both Strange and Wanda's minds could play a massive part, and one world he could show them, which would definitely frighten them, could be a world where the Avengers are overcome by zombies.

Seeing their fellow superheroes, or perhaps those that they have both lost, as zombies attacking them would be a massive fight scene and one that would definitely get fans excited.

2 Doctor Strange 2 Could Also Introduce The Blade Universe

If Doctor Strange 2 is as important to the MCU as we think, it is likely that it will set up many potential movies and storylines for the future of the movies, and one perfect candidate, who is also perfect for a horror movie is Blade. Back in 2019, Kevin Feige confirmed at Comic-Con that Blade will get an MCU appearance to revamp with two-time Academy Award winner, Mahershala Ali.

Visiting a world like Transylvania, which is home to Blade's common foe, Dracula, could set a future vampire rampage on the Earth and lead to the introduction of Blade, alongside perhaps other members of the Midnight Sons like Ghost Rider and Moon Knight, and we know the latter is getting a Disney+ show.

1 The Astral Realm Could Be Explored In More Detail

Wanda studying the Darkhold in the end credits scene of the WandaVision finale

So far Marvel has only just scratched the surface with the Astral Plane. Doctor Strange has used it to read while he sleeps, and in the post-credits scene of WandaVision, Wanda was seen reading the Darkhold while also consciously making tea, showing us that it may be explored in more detail and could be used with greater power and purpose soon.

The Astral Realm was also used to more effect in Black Panther as a way to have a conversation with deceased individuals, but it can be used even more in the comics, for example by turning their bodies into weapons or even grow in size.
