Doctor Sleep Sequel Reportedly in the Works Before Box Office Bomb

Despite high expectations, Warner Bros.' Doctor Sleep has bombed at the box office, with fans not flocking to see Mike Flanagan's sequel to The Shining. However, it has now been revealed another sequel to Stanley Kubrick's film was planned, Hallorann, which centered on the Overlook Hotel's chef.

According to THR, Warner Bros. Chairman Toby Emmerich had already struck a deal with Flanagan, known for his horror projects such as Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House, and his Intrepid Pictures to script a sequel with the chef and his knack for helping people who could Shine.

It remains to be seen if the studio would consider moving forward on this following Doctor Sleep's performance, but fans have expressed interest in seeing what direction the movie would have gone. Dick Hallorann, who died in The Shining movie but lived in the book and mentored Danny about his powers, did appear in this sequel as a ghost to help Danny find his purpose against the True Knot.

Written and directed by Mike Flanagan, Doctor Sleep stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, Carl Lumbly, Alex Essoe and Zahn McClarnon.
