Details on the upcoming Stephen King adaptation Doctor Sleep are still being kept under wraps but its villain has been revealed in a new official still.
Rebecca Ferguson is seen in a photo from the upcoming sequel to The Shining in an advance look from Fandango. The photo has Ferguson as the evil cult leader Rose the Hat, wearing her signature headpiece as she holds a strange object in the woods, with dimly lit trailers seen behind her.
Rose leads a murderous cult known as The True Knot that preys on children who possess psychic abilities as part of their obsessive quest for immortality. The upcoming horror film has an adult Danny Torrance from The Shining coming to terms with the trauma he endured as a child in the earlier King story to help a psychic child named Abra elude Rose and her followers.
Adapting the 2013 King novel of the same name, the upcoming adaptation is written and directed by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and filmed in the last quarter of 2018 on location in Georgia.
Doctor Sleep, which centers on the adult Danny Torrance years after the traumatic events at the Overlook Hotel, stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Carl Lumbly, Alex Essoe and Zahn McClarnon. It's scheduled for release on Nov. 8.
