The cast of the latest Stephen King adaptation, Doctor Sleep, continues to grow with the casting of key character Abra Stone.

Kyleigh Curran has been cast as Stone, a young girl who possesses the same mental abilities as Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) and finds herself targeted by a murderous cult looking to feed off her life-force. Curran had previously appeared as a young Nala on the Broadway production of Disney's The Lion King.

First published in 2013, Doctor Sleep serves as a sequel to King's popular novel The Shining as an adult Danny finds himself descending into the same mental illness and problems with addiction that destroyed his father in the original 1977 novel.

The novel was first optioned by Warner Bros. for a film adaptation in 2016 with Akiva Goldsman, who had previously produced and co-wrote last year's King adaptation The Dark Tower, delivering the first draft. Mike Flanagan signed on to direct the project this past January, rewriting Goldman's script.
