The following contains major spoilers for All-Out Avengers #2, available now from Marvel Comics.

Doctor Doom has become one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Marvel's All-Out Avengers #2 only after the infamous villain splits his soul into two separate parts.

All-Out Avengers #2 comes from writer Derek Landy, penciler Greg Land, inker Jay Leisten, colorist Frank D'Armata and letterer VC's Cory Petit. The issue opens mid-battle as Doom is calling, "Avengers Assemble" while he holds Thor's Mjolnir and Captain America's shield. Behind him are She-Hulk/Jennifer Walters, Black Panther/T'Challa and Iron Man/Tony Stark, all of whom are rushing into battle against a far more sinister version of Doom.

After the heroes retreat from the battle back to Avengers Mountain, Tony reveals Doom has only been a member of the team for a few hours. The crew further explains that Doom previously split his soul into two separate parts with a Soulsplitter Stone, thus creating a "Dark-Doom" and "Light-Doom." While Dark-Doom has captured Captain America, Thor and Captain Marvel, Blade joins the heroes in freeing their friends from the ominous foe, which is when Light-Doom and Dark-Doom have a major confrontation. Light-Doom gets his hands on the Soulsplitter Stone and destroys it, despite pleas from his other half not to do so. "Victor Von Doom was conflicted!" Dark-Doom tries to reason. "Divided! You are pure! I am pure! We are stronger like this, stronger apart! Why would you want to go back to the way things were?" Light-Doom fires back, "Because out here, you're far more powerful than I, and you will destroy me. But in there...no matter how powerful his darker urges are, there will always be good in him. There will always be hope."

Two Doctor Dooms Become One Doctor Doom

Destroying the Soulsplitter Stone results in the recreation of a single Doctor Doom, who no longer has any interest in partnering with the Avengers. "Your friends have been released, Stark," he says to Tony moments after transforming back into his regular self. "You may leave my country." Tony thanks him before departing; however, upon returning to Avengers Mountain, Iron Man also finds footage of the entire incident involving Doom has somehow been corrupted. Unsure whether or not that was the work of Dark-Doom, Tony shrugs it off similarly to when he realizes he can't remember the past two days earlier on in the issue.
