Doctor Octopus is getting a powerful new upgrade in his war against the Amazing Spider-Man.

CBR can exclusively reveal that Amazing Spider-Man #27 by writer Zeb Wells (New Mutants, Carnage USA) and artist Ed McGuinness (Hulk, Avengers) will bring Otto Octavius crashing back into the Wall-Crawler's life with a new set of mechanical tentacles. From McGuinness's Amazing Spider-Man #28, readers can catch a glimpse of the villain's upgraded tech, which prominently features a series of menacing suckers adorning Doc Ock's already iconic limbs.

Doc Ock's next rampage is set to follow the conclusion of Spider-Man's fight against the recently returned Benjamin Rabin, an old enemy with ties to the Mayan god of mischief, Wayep. Rabin's comeback itself is directly connected to the events which took place one year prior to Spider-Man's present, which incidentally ruined the majority of his relationships, including his long-running romance with Mary Jane. These past events have been slowly unraveled throughout the series, and are finally coming into full focus along with Rabin's latest plot.

Doctor Octopus has been a fixture among Spider-Man's rogues gallery since his introduction in the pages of 1963's Amazing Spider-Man #3 by creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Since his debut, Doc Ock has gone on to make a legacy for himself as a solo villain, the founder of the original Sinister Six and even as a hero in the form of the Superior Spider-Man. In recent years, Doctor Octopus has even traversed the multiverse alongside various versions of himself, all of whom seem to have confirmed the character's deep-seated heroic streak.

Amazing Spider-Man #27 and #28 are written by Wells with interior and cover art by McGuinness. Amazing Spider-Man #27 goes on sale June 14, 2023, with Amazing Spider-Man #28 releasing two weeks later on June 28, 2023, from Marvel Comics.
