Dungeons and Dragons has thirteen iconic classes built around the three pillars of the game: exploration, combat, and social encounters. For this reason, the classes all specialize in one of the six major stats. Players often build wizards and artificers with an Intelligence focus, while warlocks, sorcerers, paladins, and bards are Charisma-based characters.
Like D&D classes, the twelve zodiac signs have specific personalities and talents, thanks to their ruling planets, elemental associations, and modalities. From the decisive and bold barbarian to the wise and intuitive cleric, each zodiac sign corresponds to a traditionally-built archetype of the D&D classes.

12 Barbarians Are Assertive & Passionate
Aries
D&D's barbarian class is beginner-friendly, as they don't have spells to track. They're known for their signature rage, but their anger is not what truly drives them; it's their passion. As a primarily Strength and Constitution-based character, barbarians are frontline fighters who have to make quick decisions and suffer serious consequences for their mistakes in combat.
Mars, the planet of passion and aggression, rules Aries, the cardinal fire sign. As a cardinal sign, it represents fire's purest energy. While they can be hot-headed, they are the sign most likely to take decisive action. Furthermore, Saturn, the planet ruling discipline and hard lessons, is in fall when under Aries. Thus, Aries can be impulsive and must pay the price when that goes wrong.
11 Rangers Are Grounded Characters
Taurus
Rangers are highly-skilled explorers who tend to buff Dexterity and Wisdom. Their weapons are usually long-ranged, and they typically specialize in stealth (Dexterity), survival (Wisdom), and perception (Wisdom).
Taurus is the zodiac's first earth sign and has a fixed modality. These qualities suggest how grounded they are, though they can prove too stubborn. Their ruling planet is Venus, which implies their preference for creature comforts and beauty. Like rangers, they are down to earth and focused on the daily grind. In a campaign setting, that's often finding food, setting up camp, and scouting for enemies or followers.
10 Warlocks Are Charismatic & Multifaceted
Gemini
Warlocks are Charismatic characters that make pacts with otherworldly beings for magic powers. Those patrons can be a slew of entities such as old gods, Fiends, Archfey, Genies, and powerful deep-sea monsters. As a result of forging such pacts, warlocks become multitalented spell casters.
Gemini is a mutable air sign with a "two-faced" reputation stemming from people's misunderstanding of what Gemini means. However, they are great multitaskers, are jacks-of-all-trades, and are loquacious. Their Mercury rulership hints at these traits. The twins represent Gemini, and like warlocks, it sometimes feels like they're multiple beings into one.
9 Clerics Are Compassionate & Nurturing
Cancer
Clerics are the primary healers of any traditional D&D party, and as Wisdom-based casters, they understand others on a deeper level. Their healing focus makes them seem nurturing and compassionate, even if they are also brutal combatants.
Cancer is the cardinal water sign, meaning they have an intimate connection with emotions, which their moon rulership further indicates. Cancers are often seen as a motherly sign, as they love to nurture others. Sometimes, they withdraw into their shells but are typically understanding and empathetic.
8 Sorcerers Are Naturally Talented
Leo
Sorcerers, one of the most difficult D&D classes to play, inherit their spell casting. This origin is strikingly different from wizards, who learn their powers through study, or clerics and warlocks, who gain their abilities from external sources. They are powerful Charisma casters and much flashier than their counterparts.
The sun, which rules Leo, is the celestial body encompassing the external self, ego, and presentation. Thus, Leos love to be center stage and usually have the talent to back that up. Leo is also a fixed fire sign, meaning they can be stubborn but passionate. D&D's sorcerers are much the same, as they are naturally powerful and don't mind being front and center.
7 Artificers Are Logical & Methodical
Virgo
Artificers are analytical tinkerers and spell casters. They share much in common with wizards and are similarly Intelligence focused and use that stat as their spell-casting modifier.
Virgos are the zodiac's mutable earth sign, and like Gemini, its ruling planet is Mercury. As a result, Virgos love learning and creating new things, not unlike artificers. They are also grounded and logical, and while they don't like being wrong, they aren't so dogmatic that they refuse to learn from their mistakes. Likewise, artificers are used to being the smartest person in the room, but they learn through experimentation.
6 Paladins Have A Strong Sense Of Justice
Libra
Paladins, a D&D class with formidable combat ability, are holy warriors who gain their Charisma-based spell casting from their oaths. These vows are usually to a deity but are not always so. Traditionally, paladins are lawful good, and older editions of the game mandated that they choose this alignment. As such, they are devoted to justice.
The scales represent Libra, implying their love of balance and truth. Like Taurus, Venus rules Libra and gifts the cardinal air sign a preference for aesthetics and peace in all facets of life. As a result, Libras try to avoid confrontation. However, as any paladin's enemy can attest, Libras can be powerful foes when stirred to action.
5 Rogues Are Mysterious Truth Seekers
Scorpio
Rogues like to fly under the radar, so they often buff Dexterity to boost their stealth and sleight of hand. D&D's iconic rogue character archetypes have a shadowy exterior, which adds an air of mystery.
As a fixed water sign, Scorpios feel counterintuitive. Water is fluid and changing by nature, and the fixed modality is contrary to that. Mars (traditional) and Pluto (modern) rule Scorpio, hinting at the sign's assertive and passionate but enigmatic and secretive nature. Like rogues, Scorpios like to play things close to the chest, but Scorpios also hate liars.
4 Bards Are Party Animals
Sagittarius
Bards are powerful spell casters and musicians with a penchant for getting into shenanigans. With Charisma as their primary stat, they are often the "life of the party," but they are still formidable members of any D&D party, ranking as one of D&D's best support classes.
Sagittarius has a party animal reputation amongst the zodiac signs, as its mutability and fiery nature make them highly adaptable and a little whimsical. Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, rules Sagittarius. In doing so, Jupiter gifts them with a philosophical side. Like bards, they seek new experiences and opportunities.
3 Fighters Always Have A Plan
Capricorn
With the expectation of a few subclasses, fighters must do everything without magic. One iconic fighter build is that of the Battle Master (one of the best D&D fighter builds), which has many maneuvers to use in combat. As such, they prove themselves as combat strategists and leaders of the group.
Capricorn, the cardinal earth sign, is logical to the point of feeling cold, but this is because they are constantly weighing their options to find the best solution. Saturn rules Capricorn, which explains the sign's disciplined nature. Like the Battle Master, Capricorns' rationality is a prized trait that makes them great allies.
2 Wizards Want To Change The World
Aquarius
Wizards are studious spell casters specializing in one of the many schools: Abjuration, Transmutation, Divination, Necromancy, Conjuration, Illusion, Evocation, and Enchantment. Other niches, such as the Order of the Scribes, Graviturgy, Chronurgy, and Bladesinging, make this D&D class extremely versatile.
Aquarius is the fixed air sign that calls Uranus its ruler. Thanks to Uranus' influence, Aquariuses are rebellious and fight against the status quo. In addition, they are cerebral and have sharp wits but are adaptable and multitalented, much like D&D's wizards.

Pisces
Druids and monks are both Wisdom-heavy characters who are perceptive and intuitive. While Dexterity is often the monk's primary stat, their Ki-related abilities often require a high Wisdom, and druids (a great D&D class for utility) cast using Wisdom as their modifier.
Pisces is the mutable water sign under Neptune's dominion. As a water sign, Pisces are in touch with their emotions and in tune with the world. Neptune is the planet of dreams and intuition, which makes sense with the druid's spell-casting modifier and the monk's many Ki-point abilities.
