The druid class is one of the most versatile classes available to players in Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition. With Wild Shape, druids can become unstoppable as they temporarily turn into animals of steadily increasing power. Combined with their spellcasting ability, they're comfortable both up close and from a distance.

On top of all of that, the various subclasses available to druids can improve their healing abilities, crowd control potential, and other support beyond healing. With a class as flexible as the druid, it can be hard to tell what magic items are best to reward them with. However, druids do have a few standout magic items that suit them well.

15 A Ring Of Animal Influence Helps A Druid Own Their Domain

Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 189

A druid is flanked by wolves in DnD

The Ring of Animal Influence is the perfect thematic magic item for a D&D 5e druid. It lets the caster use several nature-themed spells like Animal Friendship, Fear (targeting beasts), and Speak with Animals. The ring has three charges that can be used to cast the spells. With its magic, the druid becomes even better at interacting with animals.

The Ring of Animal Influence doesn't require attunement. Even though other items may outclass it in terms of raw power, it's a valuable tool with little reason not to take it. In particular, its situational but thematic spells would otherwise need to be prepared. With a Ring of Animal Influence, a D&D 5e druid can instead prepare more generalist and impactful spells.

14 A Staff Of Healing Brings Allies Back From Death's Door

Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 202

Players can customize a druid in any way they see fit, and with that versatility comes many great multiclassing options.

Druids have access to plenty of healing spells in D&D 5e. They use a primal form of divine magic, which has some overlap with the cleric's spell list. However, few druids are built solely around healing. Only the Circle of Dreams properly focuses on it. In other cases, healing allies can drain a druid's valuable spell slots.

The Staff of Healing is one of the best druid magic items in D&D 5e for players who want to use their spell slots for other things. A druid can use it to cast Cure Wounds, Lesser Restoration, or Mass Cure Wounds. It's perfect for bringing back unconscious allies, curing status effects, or healing the entire party in a desperate move. A druid can turn a fight around without using any of their resources.

13 A Wand Of Fireballs Provides Reliable Area Damage

Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 210

A gnome wizard casts fire with her staff.

D&D druids are very powerful spellcasters. However, they sometimes struggle to deal direct damage. Most of their spells buff allies, debuff enemies, or reshape the battlefield's terrain. Druids can't always bring pain when they need to. A Wand of Fireballs magic item solves this problem.

Most druids don't get access to Fireball, with only a handful of druid Circles able to cast it. One of D&D 5e's best damage spells is a welcome tool in any druid's arsenal. In the late game, Fireball can grow less lethal, particularly with the low fixed DC of the wand. Even then, however, a Wand of Fireballs is a good druid magic item for clearing out weaker enemies without using spell slots.

12 Slippers Of Spider Climbing Keep Druids Out Of Harm's Way

Uncommon, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 200

The image shows two purple and black shoes with golden spiderwebs, the slippers of spider climbing in dungeons and dragons

Slippers of Spider Climbing are perfect for keeping a squishier D&D druid out of harm's way. They also let the druid cast a spell from whatever angle they need. Unless the druid is on a slippery surface, the slippers allow them to walk on walls and ceilings without occupying their hands.

This ability opens the doors to all sorts of synergies and novel tactics. For example, a character can use Thorn Whip to pull enemies into the air before letting them fall back to the floor. The Slippers of Spider Climbing are a straightforward magic item, but they're invaluable for D&D 5e druids willing to use them in creative ways.

11 A Mantle Of Spell Resistance Sees Off Dangerous Effects

Since D&D druids tend to have low armor class, need strong Wisdom scores, and can't easily tank attacks, some races are better suited than others.

The Mantle of Spell Resistance is an invaluable D&D magic item for any druid who fears magical effects. The cloak gives the wearer advantage on any saving throws against spells when attuned. It doesn't cover traps or creatures' innate abilities, but it still covers most of the effects that will come a player's way.

At first glance, The Mantle of Spell Resistance isn't the flashiest magic item for druids in D&D 5e. But any player in a campaign with many spellcasting opponents will be happy to find one of these on their next adventure. Its simple reliability makes it one of the best druid magic items in D&D 5e, albeit not especially tuned to their party role. Any magic item designed to resist enemy spellcasting is best used when the party expects to fight magically inclined humanoids, such as storming a cult's den, delving into a dungeon, or fighting an enemy army.

10 An Animated Shield Protects Without Interfering With Spellcasting

Very Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 151

The image shows the animated shield with someone holding up their hand nearby

The Animated Shield is an ideal magic item for D&D 5e druids looking to cast spells without having to put away their weapons. As a bonus action, the wielder can release the shield. It then hovers in the air around them and provides an Armor Class bonus as if they were holding it.

The Animated Shield opens up all sorts of new combat options for druids. It allows them to use weapons and spellcasting foci without lowering their Armor Class. Alternatively, the shield will continue to protect a D&D 5e Circle of the Moon druid even if they use Wild Shape. Armor Class is often a weakness of Moon Druids. Protection that an animal can use is invaluable.

9 A Pearl Of Power Makes Spellcasters Even Better

Uncommon, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 183

Druids are some of the best spellcasters in all of D&D 5e. They rival wizards for the power of their spellcasting. However, they're also very dependent on it. Outside a few utility features, druids don't get much other than their spells. It's dangerous for them to run out of spell slots.

A Pearl of Power helps avoid this. With a single action, a druid can use it to regain a single spell slot of third-level or lower. Druids have many invaluable spells from first to third level, and a Pearl of Power keeps them casting for longer. A D&D 5e Circle of the Land druid with a Pearl of Power can cast more spells than almost any other character. Still, if the party has a warlock, the Pearl of Power should go to them, since warlocks have such limited spell slots. Pearl of Power is definitely one of the best warlock magic items. Still, if the party finds a second Pearl of Power, the druid can make excellent use of it.

8 A Ring/Cloak Of Protection Aid Low Armor Class

Rare/Uncommon, Dungeon Master's Guide pgs. 161 and 159

a ring of protection has a shield and fancy patterns on it

A Ring of Protection and Cloak of Protection provide the same benefits in D&D 5e. The wearer gains a +1 bonus to their AC and saving throws while attuned to them. They can even be stacked and double their benefits if a character has both. Although these bonuses seem low, they're significant in D&D 5e's flat math probability.

A +1 to all saves and AC can save a character's life. Druids, in particular, will benefit from this. Additional Armor Class is always good, especially as druids struggle with metal armor. It's also a rare bonus to saving throws. Druids especially appreciate a +1 bonus on their Constitution saving throws to maintain Concentration. However, a druid should be aware that a Ring/Cloak of Protection is also a great magic item for a wizard, and most likely, the party's squishy wizard will need it more than the druid. Players should keep that in mind when divvying up loot after a mission.

Dungeons and Dragons: Which Circle Is Best For Your Druid?
Playing a druid in Dungeons and Dragons can be a rewarding experience. What makes the difference is the circle players choose.

Druids can struggle with Armor Class in D&D 5e. In particular, most magic armors aren't for druids. This is because druids have a restriction against wearing metal. Armors like hide or leather can suit a druid well in the early game. However, their Armor Class won't scale well without significant magic item investment, hence good magic items for druids like Barrier Tattoos.

The Barrier Tattoo is one of the best D&D 5e magic items for druids who need better protection. It gives a flat Armor Class value with no need for armor. At its highest, it provides protection equal to plate armor without clashing with D&D 5e druid restrictions. On top of that, it stacks with various spells and magic items that provide more Armor Class. Sorcerers and wizards often get Barrier Tattoos as well, since they have even fewer armor options than druids do.

6 The Cauldron Of Rebirth Provides Valuable Party Support

Very Rare, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything pg. 122

Circle of Spores Druid DnD 5e reaches for a mushroom

The Cauldron of Rebirth is only attunable by D&D 5e warlocks and has two specific uses. The first is that, once a day, it can be used to make a Potion of Greater Healing, though the item must be used within 24 hours before it spoils. This is vital healing on a day-by-day basis, but it pales to the Cauldron of Rebirth's other use as a druid magic item in D&D 5e.

The second is that when a humanoid corpse is placed in the cauldron with 200 pounds of salt for 8 hours, the person is returned to life as if affected by the Raise Dead spell. The second effect can only be used once per week. Nonetheless, having the ability to resurrect allies for ten gold pieces is one of the most game-changing effects of any D&D 5e magic item for druids.

5 Hide Of The Feral Guardian Bolsters Shapeshifters In Combat

Legendary, Explorer's Guide To Wildemount pg. 271

The Hide of the Feral Guardian is designed for D&D 5e druids and provides them with many powerful benefits. It's studded leather armor with a magical bonus and a host of other abilities. It boosts a druid's fighting ability when shifted into alternate forms. In addition, it lets them polymorph themselves into a giant owl for free.

However, the Hide of the Feral Guardian is one of the D&D 5e Explorer's Guide to Wildemount's Vestiges of Divergence. This means it increases in power throughout a campaign. At its highest point, it is +3 armor that lets the druid turn into a vicious Guardian Wolf and boosts their shapeshifted combat significantly.

4 A Tome Of Understanding Breaks Normal Spellcasting Limits

Very Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 208

The image shows an open Tome of Understanding magic item from the DnD 5e Dungeon Master's Guide

Wisdom is already one of D&D 5e's most useful stats and is one of the game's most impactful saving throws against magic and similar effects Wisdom affects a druid's spellcasting, one of their core functions, and it can boost some handy skills in the game such as Perception, Medicine, and Survival.

The Tome of Understanding increases a character's Wisdom by 2 when they read it for 48 hours. Better than that, however, it increases the typical cap of 20 by 2. A druid's spellcasting can become better than almost any other mortals if they read a Tome of Understanding. The Tome of Understanding is one of the best druid magic items in D&D 5e because it makes them better at everything they want to do. Incidentially, this item is also excellent for clerics and rangers.

The Best Feats For Druids In D&D 5e
Druids are an exceptionally powerful class in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, and they only get more powerful when augmented with a couple of feats.

Druids are full casters in D&D 5e, with the highest amount of spell slots in the game. This goes even further for the Circle of the Land druid, who can regain spell slots with Natural Recovery. However, the D&D 5e druids don't have an endless supply. The Ring of Spell Storing magic item prevents them from burning out on particularly frantic or challenging adventuring days, making it an essential item for managing spell slots during a lengthy adventure in the wilds or in a complex dungeon.

A D&D spellcaster can put up to five levels' worth of spells in a Ring of Spell Storing. They can then cast these spells they've stored without using any spell slots. The Ring of Spell Storing is one of the best magic items for D&D 5e druids because they can cast evergreen spells like Healing Word or Detect Magic into it when they have spell slots and pay it forward for when they don't.

2 A Moon Sickle Is Tailor-Made For Druids

Varies, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything pg. 133

A druid casts a spell in an autumn forest in DnD

A Moon Sickle is a magical weapon in D&D 5e, boosting a druid's weapon attack rolls and damage. However, the boost to their spell attack rolls and spell saves DC is much more impactful. The sickle can also be used as a spellcasting focus, which adds a d4 to any healing magic. The bonus the sickle gives players is determined by its rarity, going from a minimum of +1 to a maximum of +3.

A character's spells becoming more effective is always a significant boon. This goes double for a class like the druid that relies so much on spellcasting. A Moon Sickle is one of the best magic items for druids in D&D 5e because it makes them better at their primary role. With its scaling power, it can also slot into almost any part of a campaign without being overpowered.

1 Staff Of The Woodlands

Rare, Dungeon Master's Guide pg. 204

Besides functioning as a magical weapon, D&D 5e's Staff of the Woodlands offers several game-changing abilities. It lets the druid cast many useful D&D 5e druid spells, including Barkskin, Speak with Plants, and Pass without Trace, which can be used at will. The staff can also be planted, transforming it into a giant tree.

The Staff of the Woodlands comes with many perks. At its most basic, it simply makes the druid invaluable both in and out of combat. However, its secondary function can be a godsend in the right situation. A large tree can facilitate many plans, with uses ranging from camouflage to transportation. It's an ideal D&D 5e magic item for any druid, especially those with creative players.
