As Dungeons & Dragons continues to expand its library of adventures, including revisiting classic world settings like Dragonlance, exciting and powerful new items join the game. Every new item introduced is reflective of the world itself, often reflecting the people and even the dangers those inhabitants face on a day-to-day basis.

The Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen adventure module adds a variety of new items players should familiarize themselves with before launching into an adventure through Krynn. With items ranging from enhanced communication between separated party members to expert gnome-flinging in situations that require a quick getaway, there are plenty of interesting new tools to add to new and ongoing campaigns. Since gnomes tend to be some of the most intelligent and creative people in the land, prepare for some wacky but useful new gadgets and gizmos.

Dragonlance's Narycrash Is the Perfect Safety Tool for Non-Magic Users

DnD 5e Dragonlance Narycrash Backpack

In situations where a character finds themselves falling from up high, they often look hopefully to the magic users for protection with a spell like Feather Fall -- but maybe there are no magic users nearby, or they don't have that spell prepared. That's where the Narycrash comes in handy. The Narycrash is a backpack-sized wearable with a parachute tucked inside that can be deployed as a bonus action in the event of an emergency. The falling creature descends 60 ft per round and takes no damage upon landing. Upon reaching 10 feet from the ground, the player rolls a d20 to determine whether the parachute gives out, and they land normally.

The Fargab Allows DnD Players to Keep In Touch While Traveling

dnd 5e dragonlance fargab

Another backpack-sized device, Fargabs are generally crafted in numbered pairs. When two parties get separated and each one has a Fargab, this device allows them to keep in contact using radio frequencies and acts similarly to the Message spell. The coinciding Fargab must be within 18 miles during communication, and both devices must be worn at the time of the communication, otherwise only static emits from the speakers. This is the perfect tool for keeping in touch in those unfortunate circumstances that require splitting the party.

Dragonlance's Hoopak Staff Is Both a Melee and Ranged Weapon

Tasslehoff and Kitiara Dragonlance

The signature weapon of Dragonlance Kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot, Hoopak staffs may look unthreatening, but in the right hands, they can do minor damage. Acting as both a melee and ranged weapon, one end features a pointed tip, while the other holds a slingshot for flinging projectiles called sling bullets. As a melee weapon, it deals 1d6 piercing damage, and as a ranged weapon projectiles deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage on a successful attack.

DnD's Boilerdrak Is Dragon-Shaped Gnome Siege Weapon

Dnd 5e dragonlance boilerdrak

War and battle play major roles in Shadow of the Dragon Queen, meaning there are plenty of opportunities for siege weapons like the Boilerdrak. Considered a large object, the Boilerdrak has an AC of 15 and 100 hit points, meaning it's not going to get quickly obliterated in battle. It must be lit, aimed, and fired, each of which require one action.

When firing, players roll a d20. With a two or higher, it carries out the firing action, expelling a 60-ft cone of flame. Anyone in the cone must succeed a DC 15 DEX save or take 27 points of fire damage. On a success, they take half-damage. If the player rolls a one when firing the Boilerdrak, it explodes in a 30-ft radius and is destroyed. Anyone in range must succeed a DC 15 DEX save, or take 27 fire damage, half on a success.

DnD 5e's Gnomeflingers Fire Creatures Into Battle

dnd 5e dragonlance gnomeflinger

Need to get onto the battlefield in a hurry? The Gnomeflinger can get a creature where they need to be, and fast. Designed to fire creatures instead of projectiles, the Gnomeflinger was created hand-in-hand with the Narycrash, ensuring a timely and safe arrival. When aiming the Gnomeflinger, the distant can be set from 60 to 300-ft and will always reach a maximum height of at least 60-ft. Much like the Boilerdrak, it takes one action each to load, aim and fire the Gnomeflinger. Creatures who collide with another creature or object in the air take 1d6 Bludgeoning damage for every ten feet of distance it has exceeded from the Gnomeflinger.

Shadow of the Dragon Queen's Dragonlance Is a Necessary Magical Weapon

dnd 5e dragonlance wielded by Laurana

When it comes to magical weapons, the Dragonlance is one of Krynn's most useful items. Forged for use by both foot soldiers and on horseback, a Dragonlance provides an additional +3 to attack rolls against dragons and adds 3d6 force damage on a successful hit. It does trigger a melee attack from a dragon the wielder can see within 30 feet, meaning it causes enough confusion that they may even start attacking their own.

The Flying Citadel Helm Lets DnD 5e Players Maneuver a Flying Citadel

dnd 5e dragonlance flying citadel

A wondrous item requiring attunement by a spellcaster, the Flying Citadel Helm is a special chair that steers and directs the movements of a Flying Citadel. While attuned and concentrating, the spellcaster can move the citadel up to 80-ft per round or 8 miles per hour. They can move the citadel clumsily, but if no one is attuned to or maneuvering the helm, the citadel remains aloft but motionless. In the event of the Helm's destruction, the Citadel would begin crumbling and descending to the ground at a speed of 300-ft per minute. Anyone on the Citadel would need to make a DC 20 DEX save, or take 6d12 bludgeoning damage, half on a successful save.

The Kagonesti Forest Shroud Is a Great DnD Stealth Booster

dnd 5e dragonlance kagonesti forest shroud

A cloak of woven together Autumn leaves, the Kagonesti Forest Shroud provides advantage on DEX Saves for Stealth, making it that much harder to spot the person attuned to it. It also allows the wearer to magically teleport (along with any worn equipment) to a space up to 30-ft away that the wearer can see. Once this feature has been used, it cannot be used again until completing a long rest.

The Mirror of Reflected Pasts Can Trap DnD Enemies

Ravenloft Dark Gifts

This magical mirror requires attunement, but once its activated it begins to float in the air. It is susceptible to damage and can be destroyed, but while activated it cannot be moved. A creature peering into the mirror that fails a DC 15 WIS saving throw becomes paralyzed and overwhelmed by memories altered to put the best spin imaginable on the recollection. They remain paralyzed until the mirror is deactivated or moved, and the affected can no longer see it. This is the perfect tool to trap enemies and keep them out of the way for a time.
