Disney has introduced a slew of new characters to "Zootopia," and with them, the actors who will bring them to life.
The animated comedy-adventure stars Jason Bateman as con-artist fox Nick Wilde, who goes on the run after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit, and Ginnifer Goodwin as police Lt. Judy Hopps, who’s hot on his tail, only to find herself a target of a conspiracy.
USA Today reports that Bateman and Goodwin will be joined by J.K. Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionheart; Idris Elba as Police Chief Bogo, a stern cape buffalo; Tommy Chong as Yax the Yak, a very Zen life coach; Alan Tudyk as small-time crook Duke Weaselton; Octavia Spencer as Mrs. Otterton, a desperate otter who turns to the police to find her missing husband; Nate Torrence as Benjamin Clawhauser, the doughnut-loving police receptionist cheetah; Raymond Persi as Flash, the fastest-moving sloth at the DMV; Tommy Lister as Finnick, a fennec fox; Jenny Slate as Bellwether, the mayor's sheep assistant; and Bonnie Hunt and Don Lake as Judy's parents, Bonnie and Stu Hopps.
"I can't say I ever even dreamed of being a buffalo before," Elba said. "But now that I am one, I'm very excited about it. And I grabbed the part by the horns."
Directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It-Ralph”) from a script by co-director Jared Bush (“All of Us”), “Zootopia” opens March 4, 2016.
