Phillipa Soo, the Tony Award-nominated star of Broadway's "Hamilton," is about to make her Disney debut. Entertainment Weekly reports that she will join "Hamilton" co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda on "Moana" as "a villager of Motunui, Moana’s home island."

Best known for her role as Eliza Schuyler in "Hamilton," Soo also had a recurring role as Lexi in "Smash." She has also appeared in the short film "Keep the Change" as well as "Dangerous Liaisons."

"Moana" follows born navigator Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), who sets sail in search of a fabled island in the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania. On her journey, she teams up with the legendary demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) and explores the open ocean, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore. Miranda is also on board to pen some of the film's musical numbers.

Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker — of “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and most recently, “The Princess and the Frog” directing fame — “Moana” is slated for a November 23, 2016 release.
