Disneyland Resorts is now allowing guests to make reservations for July 1 and onward.
The hotels now accepting reservations include Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Grand California Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel. The previously announced date was June 1. Dining reservations and bookable merchandise experiences, however, will continue to be unavailable until the park itself reopens. The two California parks — Disneyland and Disney California Adventure — closed on March 14.
The news comes after Disneyland Shanghai sold out its May 11 reopening day tickets. The park will open with restrictions and follow health regulations to ensure social distancing among guests. It will only operate at 30 percent capacity — it can hold up to 80,000 attendees.
Disney also plans to begin its phased opening of Walt Disney World Resort's Disney Springs on May 20. However, the hotels in that area will remain closed for the foreseeable future and are not taking reservations.
Disney announced this past week that the parks division of the media empire lost an estimated $1 billion in revenue due to COVID-19 closures. Revenue went down by 10 percent to $5.5 billion, while segment operating income declined 58 percent to $639 million.
