Disney veteran Lino Di Salvo will direct the Playmobil animated movie for ON Animation Studios, Variety reports.

The head of animation on "Frozen," Di Salvo replaces Bob Persichetti, who was originally announced to write and direct the project.

Now called "Playmobil: Robbers, Thieves & Rebels,” the $75 million animated feature seems intended to capitalize on the success of "The LEGO Movie."

“I’ve learned most of my skills by growing up in the Disney system; I was very fortunate to work on films like ‘Tangled’ and ‘Frozen,'” Di Salvo said in a statement. “I am thrilled at the prospect of developing the Playmobil film. As a father and a filmmaker, to create a film about your son’s favorite toy, what else do you want?”

Debuting in 1975, the Playmobil toy line features a wide range of playsets, but it's probably best known for its 3-inch human figures. The toys have inspired amusement parks (called FunParks), video games and a CG-animated television series.
