Even after revisiting "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty" (the latter in the form of "Maleficent"), Disney still isn't finished with fairy tale princesses.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio plans a revisionist take on "Snow White" that focuses on her sister Rose Red. With a script by Justin Merz and a pitch by Evan Daugherty ("Snow White and the Huntsman"), the project is viewed as a "companion piece" to the 1937 animated classic.

The story is said to introduce Rose Red into the later moments of "Snow White": When Snow White takes a bite from the poison apple and falls into a Sleeping Death, her estranged sister joins with the Seven Dwarves to discover a way to break the curse.

Rose Red's origins lie in the classic fairy tale "Snow White and Rose Red" (a separate story from "Snow White"), which tells of the quiet Snow White and the outspoken Rose Red, two sisters who repeatedly rescue a wicked, ungrateful dwarf.
