UPDATE: The King's Man has now been moved to Feb. 12, 2021.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced numerous major films to shift their release dates, with many being delayed until next year.

The King's Man is the latest to shift. The film was originally scheduled to be released this September, but is now scheduled for Feb. 26, 2021. Disney, who owns 20th Century Studios, made the announcement today. The delay is due to the fact that theaters in New York and California remain closed due to the pandemic.

20th Century Studios still has two films hitting theaters in the future. The long delayed X-Men spinoff The New Mutants will hit theaters this Friday, alongside the docudrama The Personal History of David Copperfield.

The King's Man serves as a prequel to the Kingsman films, and focuses on the origins of the titular spy agency during World War I.  The film series itself takes its origins from The Secret Service comic by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Matthew Vaughn, who helmed Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, will return to the director's chair for this film. Vaughn has previously teased that The King's Man will help set up the third Kingsman film.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, The King's Man stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou and Charles Dance. The film arrives in theaters Feb. 12, 2021.
