During Star Wars Celebration, Disney revealed new concept art and details for its eagerly anticipated "Star Wars"-themed lands and Disney World and Disneyland, characterized as "the most ambitious project in the history of Walt Disney Imagineering."

For months fans have seen designs for the 14-acre areas, but on Saturday Imagineers revealed the setting is a remote village on an Outer Rim planet, on the edge of the Unknown Regions, that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade route. Now, however, it's become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers, and a safe haven for those seeking to avoid the widening grip of the First Order.

"We're creating a place that is an extension of the 'Star Wars' universe," Asa Kalama, executive director of Walt Disney Imagineering, says in the video below, "not a re-creation of an experience that you might have seen on screen, but something totally brand-new."

A full-size replica of the Millennium Falcon is at the heart of the "Star Wars"-themed land, and guest will not only be able to pilot the iconic spaceship but serve in different roles as part of its crew. They'll also build "reputations" during their visit, with what they do on one ride affecting their experiences on those that follow.

The largest-ever single-themed land expansions at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, the "Star Wars"-themed lands will feature full-sized AT-ATs, a street market, a cantina and an upscale restaurant. The areas at both parks are targeted to open in 2019.
