Diego Luna will reprise his role as Rebel spy Cassian Andor in a live-action prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Star Wars series will air on the Disney+ streaming platform and will revolve around Cassian's time as a spy during the early years of the Rebellion.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said in a statement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

The description for the series goes on to say the spy thriller will "explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire." A title for the project and a release date have not been announced, but the TV series will go into production next year.

The Rogue One prequel will join Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian as the second live-action Star Wars series for Disney's upcoming streaming service.
