Joaquin Phoenix, the star of one of Hollywood's most unlikely successes (Joker), may be trading in his clown makeup for a hook hand.

According to The Illuminerdi, Disney has offered Phoenix the role of Captain Hook in its upcoming Peter Pan adaptation, Peter Pan and Wendy. The site also reports that Birds of Prey (and, coincidentally, Harley Quinn) star Margot Robbie is being offered the role of Tinker Bell.

Phoenix has had a stellar few years, and the actor could land his first Oscar for his aforementioned title role in Joker. Although he isn't known for too many high-profile parts, he was previously rumored to take on the role of Doctor Strange before Benedict Cumberbatch was announced.

Peter Pan and Wendy is yet another entry in the long list of upcoming Disney remakes that includes this year's Mulan and Rob Marshall's upcoming The Little Mermaid.

Peter Pan and Wendy is directed by David Lowery, the director of previous Disney remake Pete's Dragon, and co-written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks. The film has yet to receive a release date, though it's rumored it could end up on Disney+.
