Announced at this year's D23, Disney Channel's new web series Random Rings features animated shorts depicting real-life prank calls with hilarious results.

The series has popular Disney animated characters call unsuspecting people leading to silly hijinks, rendered in Disney's signature animation style. The first season will consist of 10 episodes with characters from the Disney Channel series Big City Greens, with voice actors Chris Houghton and Marieve Herington reprising their roles as Cricket and Tilly Green. In an exclusive clip, Cricket calls a real-life karate instructor to demand a black belt over the phone.

The short-form series is similar to the long-running Comedy Central series Crank Yankers, albeit animated instead of recreated with muppets. Judging by the first clip, while pranks serve as the central premise to the new web series, the resulting conversations are considerably more family-friendly while no less unpredictable or irreverently fun than the Comedy Central series. With nine more episodes slated for the first season, it will be interesting to see what new, animated mischief Cricket and Tilly get into next.
