In an unexpected piece of Disney+ news, the streaming service has apparently started polling users on whether more of Joss Whedon's shows should be added to the platform. While Whedon's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is already available to stream on Disney+, the writer/director is also known for his projects Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and Firefly. Although Whedon isn't interested in returning to the Disney-owned Marvel Studios after directing The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, the latest rumors suggest both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly could join Disney+'s impressive roster of shows.RELATED: Anthony Head Pitches How He'd Return as Giles for the Buffy Reboot

Twitter user @Griddlemarks claimed that Disney+ was asking subscribers if they want the two cult shows to join the platform, following it with a screenshot of a questionnaire asking fans if they'd watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly on Disney+.

Despite only running for a single season from 2002-2003, Firefly has become somewhat legendary due to the outcry from its fandom when it was cancelled. The supernatural drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and aired for seven seasons. After it wrapped up its story in 2003, it was continued in comic book form, and in 2018 a reboot of the show was announced, under 20th Century Fox with Monica Owusu-Breen as showrunner.

Although the survey also asked viewers if they'd tune in for shows like Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother, the two Whedonverse series stand out, as news on the Buffy reboot has gone quiet following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. As for Firefly, its status as one of the shows most widely considered 'canceled too soon' means a big-budget Disney reboot is sure to draw enthusiasm. Earlier this year, executive producer Tim Minear confirmed Fox execs are open to the idea of a Firefly revival.

Disney+ is still committed to its back catalog of Disney classics, Fox favorites, and its new slate of original programming. Although the streaming service's statistics are already impressive, the inclusion of Whedon's beloved shows would surely lure a few more subscribers in.
