Disney has reportedly suspended its Facebook ads for Disney+ to support the #StopHateForProfit boycott campaign.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the House of Mouse bought the most ads out of any company on the social media site for the first half of 2020. However, displeased with how Facebook is handling hate-speech and online harassment on its platform, the media empire joined other major corporations likes Unilever, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Target, Starbucks, Verizon, PlayStation and Acura in the boycott. The effort is being led by the NAACP and the Anti-Defamation League.

Disney did not comment on the report, and Facebook does not discuss individual advertisers. However, the social media giant said, "We invest billions of dollars each year to keep our community safe and continuously work with outside experts to review and update our policies. We know we have more work to do, and we'll continue to work with civil rights groups, GARM [the Global Alliance for Responsible Media coalition], and other experts to develop even more tools, technology and policies to continue this fight."

Disney also halted Hulu advertising on Instagram, while other divisions are reexamining their marketing relationship with Facebook. The report noted that ads for the Disney-owned networks ABC and Freeform can barely be found on Facebook anymore.
