Disney+'s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series will evidently go the way of HBO's Watchmen, with star Ewan McGregor explaining that the show is currently set to be comprised of a single standalone season.

McGregor was recently interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, where he discussed the series' length, hinting that while they are aiming for one season, more stories could potentially follow. "As I understand, it's a standalone season," he said. "We'll see. Who knows?"

McGregor portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy; he served as the Jedi Master for Anakin Skywalker, who would end up becoming the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Kenobi spent the remainder of his days on Tatooine as Ben Kenobi, guarding Anakin's son Luke; the series will take place between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.

Details about the series have been scarce; apart from McGregor, no other significant roles have officially been cast. Writer Hossein Amini departed the project during development; he was replaced by Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Army of the Dead.) Reports indicated that the original version of the series bore too much of a resemblance to the current Star Wars television series, The Mandalorian; the episode order was also cut down from six to four episodes total.
