The Simpsons short "Playdate with Destiny" will be available to stream on Disney+ starting today, April 10th. The short stars the youngest Simpsons child, Maggie, who chases another baby after he "whisks her from danger -- and steals her heart."

Originally attached to Pixar's Onward theatrical release earlier this year, "Playdate with Destiny" enjoyed a favorable reception, according to the show's creator Matt Groening. In a post on the Disney+ Instagram account, a letter from Groening and "a buncha hard-working animators" who created the short stated that "the response was so gratifying we wanted everyone to see it at home."

This coincides with Disney's decision to release other content to Disney+ shortly after its theatrical release, including Onward itself, as well as Artemis Fowl, which will skip a theatrical release altogether and head directly to Disney+ as a streaming exclusive. These decisions come in light of a reduced movie-going audience due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The short's predecessor "The Longest Daycare," which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2013, is not available on Disney+ at this time. However, it will be added later this month.
