Carmen Ejogo, best known for True Detective and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has reportedly been offered a role on Secret Invasion.

According to The Illuminerdi, Ejogo was offered the role of a currently unnamed character who "is said to be from the same world as Sam Jackson's Nick Fury, described as a powerful leader with a 'spy' feel." Marvel is reportedly looking to cast a Black or Asian woman, aged 45-70 years old, in the role.

Ejogo appeared in the third season of HBO's crime anthology series True Detective as Amelia Reardon, a school teacher and the wife of Mahershala Ali's Wayne Hays. She also played Karine Oram, a biologist aboard the spaceship Covenant, in the film Alien: Covenant and Seraphina Picquery in both Fantastic Beasts movies as well as the video game LEGO Dimensions.

If Ejogo is cast in the role, she will join a star-studded cast led by Samuel L. Jackson as former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the shape-shifting Skrull Talos. Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke, The Crown's Olivia Colman and We Can Be Heroes' Christopher McDonald have all been cast in unnamed roles.

Secret Invasion, rumored to begin filming this fall, is expected to loosely follow the comic book series of the same name, which featured Earth being invaded by Skrulls who shapeshifted to appear as major characters. It is uncertain whether the Disney+ series will address the same issue, considering many Skrulls and humans have so far been allies in the MCU.

Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Christopher McDonald. Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim will serve as directors. The series, which will air on Disney+, has yet to receive a premiere date.
