Disney+ has added paid product placement warnings to some of its titles.

In addition to information on their ratings, Disney+ movies and TV shows have previously included warnings for viewers susceptible to seizures, saying "Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers." Marvel Cinematic Universe films like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame now carry an extra warning about product placement.

Disney Plus Product Placement Warning

Endgame's product placement includes the Audi E-tron GT -- an Audi car model Tony Stark drives up to the New Avengers facility in the film -- and multiple shots where Google Pixel phones are prominently featured. There's also a scene where Thor, Korg and Miek are shown playing the video game Fortnite in their home at New Asgard.

Among the other MCU movies that include product placement warnings on Disney+ are Doctor Strange, presumably for the scene where Stephen Strange crashes his Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4. More infamous examples of product placement in the MCU include Tony eating a Burger King cheeseburger in Iron Man and driving an Acura 2012 Stark Industries Super Car during The Avengers, along with Scott Lang working at a Baskin Robbins in Ant-Man.

Following its domestic launch in November 2019, Disney+ has gradually added more content warnings to its titles in general. For example, the streaming platform initially included descriptions for movies like Peter Pan and Dumbo, warning they may contain "outdated cultural depictions." They have since added a more extensive offensive content disclaimer to these films, saying "This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together."

The Stories Matter website contains additional information about Disney's efforts to address examples of characters and scenes from older films that are now widely recognized as racially or culturally insensitive. These warnings were developed by Disney's advisors council, which includes members of the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA), Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment, Define American, Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, GLAAD Media Institute, Hollywood, Health & Society, IllumiNative, The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), RespectAbility, The Science & Entertainment Exchange and Tanenbaum.
