As the new year ushers in new movies, Disney+ is adding a host of new films, documentaries, and animated classics to its platform. Whether viewers are looking for action, heart, or education, there is no shortage of enjoyable films to stream this February.

From Marvel Cinematic Universe projects with major implications for the franchise's future to classic comedies and even the latest Pixar films, Disney+ has no shortage of films for subscribers to dig their teeth into this month.

12 Spider-Man: Far From Home Takes Spidey Across the World

Spider-Man: Far From Home, the second installment of Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man trilogy, is finally available to stream on Disney+. The film follows Peter Parker as he joins a class trip across Europe just after the events of Avengers: Endgame. During what is supposed to be his vacation, Peter must fight to save the world from the villainous Mysterio.

Far From Home now joins Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, both Amazing Spider-Man movies and Spider-Man: Homecoming on Disney+ thanks to a recent streaming deal between Disney and Sony. With this excellent sequel now readily available to stream, the only live-action Spider-Man film left to be added to Disney+ is Spider-Man: No Way Home.

11 Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Pits Indy Against his Greatest Challenge Yet

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the fifth (and supposedly final) entry in the long-running adventure franchise starring Harrison Ford. Directed by James Mangold, Dial of Destiny follows a newly retired Indiana Jones as he teams up with his goddaughter, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, for one last adventure to uncover a long-lost artifact before a group of Nazis does.

Dial of Destiny is far from the best Indiana Jones movie ever made, but it certainly doesn't disparage the iconic franchise. The film includes compelling performances from its main cast, including Harrison Ford in his final outing as Indiana Jones. While Dial of Destiny stirred controversy among hardcore fans of the franchise, it is certainly worth at least one viewing.

10 Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever Is the Latest Adventure in the Franchise

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever is the latest animated film based on Jeff Kinney's iconic book series. The film is based on the sixth book in the series, following the exploits of high schooler Greg Heffley and his family after they get snowed in during the holiday season.

Fans of the original books and the previous animated films are sure to love the latest entry in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The world created by Jeff Kinney continues to speak to kids and adults alike, mixing real high school experiences with a sharp sense of humor.

9 The Mission Documents a Compelling and Heartbreaking True Story

The Mission is a new documentary produced by National Geographic. The moving documentary tells the true story of John Allen Chu, a missionary who was killed in an attempt to reach out to the Sentinelese, a group of isolated Indigenous peoples inhabiting islands in the Indian Ocean.

The Mission is delicate and respectful in the way it portrays both sides of this tragic story. Viewers get the chance to look deeper into Chu's life and mission trips, all leading up to his final trip in 2018. While The Mission is not the most uplifting watch, it tells a unique story that may pique many viewers' interests.

8 Godzilla: Kings of the Monsters Pits The Titular Legend Against King Ghidorah

As a result of the continuing partnership between Hulu and Disney+, many offerings on the former platform can now be found on Disney's premiere streaming service, including 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. A part of the Monsterverse, the film follows the titular Titan as he claims his place as the Alpha among all other kaiju.

Though not quite as successful as other Monsterverse films, Godzilla: King of the Monsters includes some terrific kaiju battles and stunning visual effects. The movie also arrives on Disney+ just in time for audiences to catch up on the previous installments of the Monsterverse before Godzilla x King: The New Empire hits theaters in April.

7 X-Men Introduced Fan Favorite Versions of The X-Men

2000's X-Men launched a franchise that would change the superhero movie genre forever. The film may not be everything that some fans wanted it to be, but it is certainly a fun adventure with a compelling cast and plenty of action.

5 King Richard Explores Venus and Serena Williams' Humble Beginnings

King Richard is an astonishing film exploring the life of Richard Williams, the father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams. The film follows Richard as he attempts to coach his daughters to be the best players — and best people — they can possibly be.

King Richard is heartwarming and entertaining, thanks in large part to its stellar cast. Will Smith portrays the titular character, a role for which he infamously won an Academy Award. For audiences looking for a family-centered film with heart, King Richard is a terrific choice.

The Last Repair Shop is a short documentary film chronicling the lives of repair shop employees dedicated to maintaining instruments for students in Los Angeles. Working hard to keep music as an integral part of these students' lives, the craftspeople shoulder the burden of heft repairs, weaving an inspiring and captivating story for audiences.

Now is the perfect time for viewers to catch The Last Repair Shop on Disney+, since the short film was recently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. Having already won prestigious awards at various festivals, The Last Repair Shop may very well go home with an Oscar after next month's ceremony.

3 The Marvels Features a Fun Team-Up Between Captain Marvel, Spectrum, and Ms. Marvel

The Marvels is the latest cinematic installment of the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Phase 5 film follows Brie Larson's Captain Marvel as she unwillingly finds herself teamed up with two younger superheroes, the steadfast Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and the peppy Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). Despite their differences, the trio must learn how to work together as a team to defeat the villainous Kree zealot Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton).

Although The Marvels is far from the MCU's best film in recent years, it includes enough fun moments and thrilling action to keep audiences engaged. The movie's poor box office numbers reflect that many fans skipped The Marvels in theaters. Luckily, its upcoming Disney+ release gives more hesitant audiences the chance to catch the latest chapter in the Multiverse Saga — including its thrilling post-credit scene that hints at a larger story yet to come in Phase 6.

While The Marvels certainly wasn't every Marvel fan's favorite film, the story behind its inception and execution will certainly be intriguing.

1 The Space Race Is An Inspiring Documentary

New from National Geographic is an in-depth documentary detailing a very different space race than the one that most history buffs are familiar with. The Space Race tells the often-ignored but deeply inspirational story of the first Black astronauts to make it into space. It also explores the impact this historic moment had on NASA and space travel moving forward.

The Space Race includes interviews with several astronauts, including Dr. Guion Bluford, who became the first Black man in space during the 1983 STS-8 mission. The documentary gathers input from Bluford and his contemporaries to demonstrate just how monumental this historical moment was and the many barriers that it broke down thereafter.
