An obscure Marvel villain has reportedly joined the cast of Disney+'s Moon Knight.

Gaspard Ulliel's acting resume on the Hamilton Hodell talent agency website lists his latest television role as Anton Mogart/Midnight Man in Moon Knight, directed by Mohammed Diab. The site doesn't detail how many episodes of the Disney+ series Ulliel will appear in, though his presence would be another threat for Oscar Isaac's vigilante to contend with.

Only the most loyal Moon Knight fans will be familiar with Midnight Man, when you factor in the villain made his comic debut in 1981's Moon Knight #3. Created by Doug Moench and Bill Sienkiewicz, Midnight Man got his name from committing criminal acts at the stroke of midnight. He has several confrontations with Moon Knight, with one altercation resulting in the villain's face being deformed by sewer waste. After being driven insane, Midnight Man had one final battle with Moon Knight but was presumed dead when the dust settled. Midnight Man's son tried to carry on the mantle of Midnight as Moon Knight's sidekick, but he also turned to a life of crime just like his father.

Though it was widely reported back in October 2020 that the actor would be portraying Moon Knight, Marvel Studios waited until May to finally confirm it with the tweet, "'WE ARE MOONKNIGHT' - Oscar Isaac #MoonKnight" and an up-close photo of Oscar Isaac with Moon Knight artwork from the comics. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously spoke of Moon Knight during a Disney Investor presentation in December, but sidestepped discussing any casting details.

Since then, fans got to see Oscar Isaac training for Moon Knight in several behind-the-scene videos. The series' central villain is believed to be Ethan Hawke, with a Moon Knight set photo giving a glimpse at his mystery antagonist. Hawke said his reasons for joining Moon Knight came down to working with both Isaac and director Mohamed Diab. "I like what he's doing with his life," Hawke explained. "He reminds me of the actors, when I first arrived in New York, that I looked up to. Oscar's younger than me and I like the way he carries himself and I like the way he thinks. And in general, good things happen when you're in the room with people that you like the way they think, right?"

A premiere date has not been announced for Disney+'s Moon Knight.
