A new rumor suggests a Wookiee may be showing up in Season 3 of The Mandalorian on Disney+.

According to Bespin Bulletins, at least one Wookiee is expected to appear in the show in some capacity. However, it's unclear if they'll be a character of significance or merely a background character to help bring the world of the galaxy far, far away to life.

Wookiees are a sentient, hairy, humanoid race native to the planet Kashyyyk. The creatures were first introduced in 1977's A New Hope in the form of Chewbacca, the Wookiee companion and co-pilot of Han Solo. Since then, one or more Wookiees have appeared in nearly ever Star Wars film.

Little is known about Season 3 of The Mandalorian at this time. Season 2 ended with Din Djarin and Grogu parting ways, as the Force-sensitive toddler was placed in the custody of Luke Skywalker so he could begin his Jedi training. With Moff Gideon also being detained, the season ended with no clear setup for what's to come beyond the Book of Boba Fett spinoff.

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Season 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
