New set photos for Disney+'s Hawkeye series have provided a subtle hint at when this show will take place chronologically during Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The photos, posted on Twitter, show Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in New York City's Chinatown district alongside Lucky (i.e. Pizza Dog), whom Clint gradually seems to take a liking. In one image, a sign can be seen in a store window with the text "Happy New Year 2025," as well as a lower text calling it the "Year of Snake"-- the Chinese Zodiac year for 2025 -- albeit with a word blocked out by Steinfeld's coat. Based on this and the winter setting, it's possible that Hawkeye will take place either in early 2025 or the winter of 2024.RELATED: Hawkeye: Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop and Pizza Dog Debut in Leaked Set Video

While this might feel like a random time jump at first, narratively, the show will only happen a few years after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which jumped five years into the future (i.e. 2023) after the surviving Avengers tracked down and killed Thanos. In that time, having lost his entire family to the Decimation, Hawkeye sunk into grief and became the sword-wielding vigilante Ronin, ruthlessly hunting down surviving criminals until Black Widow asked him to help the Avengers perform their time heist and reclaim the Infinity Stones. Though Barton's kids and wife Laura were eventually revived, there's currently no indication that they will make a reappearance on his show.

Steinfeld's casting as Kate Bishop, though not officially confirmed, had been heavily rumored for months, and the actor further alluded to her role in a recent Instagram pre-birthday post. It was also recently announced that multiple new actors had joined Hawkeye's cast, including Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Fra Fee (Les Misérables), Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul) Alaqua Cox and Zahn McClarnon (Westworld). Florence Pugh is also set to cameo in the show, reprising her role as Yelena Belova from the upcoming Black Widow movie.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton, a role he first started playing in 2011's Thor. The series is expected to follow Clint as he trains Kate Bishop to become the new Hawkeye. The show is also expected to examine Clint's time as Ronin, the superhero identity he took during the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox and Zahn McClarnon. The Disney+ series has yet to receive a premiere date.
