Disney+ Day has arrived with a barrage of exciting announcements for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the roaring success earlier this year of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, the House of Mouse is going all-in with a plethora of live-action and animated Disney+ exclusive series based on Marvel properties.

Some of these are spinoffs, some are long-awaited continuations and some are all-new additions to the MCU. Here's a breakdown of everything new announced during the Marvel Studios portion of Disney+ Day. Agatha: House of Harkness

The breakout character and antagonist from WandaVision, Agatha Harkness (played by Kathryn Hahn), will return in a dedicated spinoff series. WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer will return as head writer this new show. Unfortunately, there are no plot details or any solid release date available as of yet.

Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan will be making her small-screen debut in Summer 2022. Previously announced for a 2021 release, Friday's Ms. Marvel announcement included new footage from the hotly anticipated series, hailing from British writer and stand-up comedian Bisha K. Ali. Newcomer Iman Vellani portrays Kamala. She leads a cast that includes Aramis Knight as Red Dagger, Saagar Shaikh as Kamala's older brother Amir and Matt Lintz as Kamala's best friend, Bruno.

X-Men '97

The beloved X-Men animated series from the '90s is making a surprise return in 2023. No plot details have been released yet, but it seems the new episodes will continue from where the original show ended, making this a direct sequel. Many original cast members are returning, most to reprise their classic roles and some in all-new parts. Beau DeMayo serves as head writer and executive producer, while original series producers Eric and Julia Lewald, and original series director Larry Houston, will consult.

What If...? Season 2

Marvel's What If...?, the popular multiverse-hopping anthology series, was already confirmed to be greenlit for a second season prior to its debut, and now more details are available, along with a new trailer narrated by Uatu/the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright). So far, one episode featuring a version of Gamora who kills Thanos and embarks on a quest to destroy the Infinity Stones has been announced. Head writer AC Bradley also teased that the second season will draw more on Phase 4 characters such as Shang-Chi and the Eternals cast.

Echo

A spinoff of the upcoming Hawkeye series (premiering on Disney+ on November 24th), this show will follow Maya Lopez (played by Alaqua Cox), a deaf Native American martial artist who can perfectly replicate her opponents' techniques. Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld will reportedly reprise their roles in Echo as well. Etan Cohen (Idiocracy) and Emily Cohen will serve as writers and executive producers.

Spider-Man: Freshman Year

Written and executive produced by Jeff Trammel, this animated series will adopt the style of Spider-Man's earliest comics appearances to tell the story of Peter Parker's origin story and journey to becoming the web-slinging hero. The show does not have a confirmed release date yet, and casting details have not been announced.

I Am Groot

Fan-favorite talking tree alien Groot, still in baby form, will star in his own standalone series of humorous shorts. No release date has been set yet, and there are no confirmed casting details at the moment. It is unknown if Vin Diesel will be returning to reprise his role as Groot, but Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn will be executive producing the show.

Marvel Zombies

This animated series will reimagine the Marvel universe in a similar fashion to Marvel's What If...?, this time with a zombie-fighting premise. What If...? director Bryan Andrews will be helming the project. Details on the show are still thin, but it appears it will feature a new generation of heroes, who will be mustered to fight an oncoming zombie scourge.
