It appears earlier rumors that Disney's upcoming premium streaming service, Disney Play, would be getting a Marvel Studios-produced Nick Fury spinoff series may have just been the tip of the iceberg. On Monday, rumors surfaced online that Samuel L. Jackson's MCU super-spy would be getting his own solo series on the streaming service. New reports have since arisen noting that the studio's third planned series for Disney Play will be even "bigger and better" than a solo series for the character.RELATED: Spider-Man & Nick Fury Hit the Water in Far From Home Set Photo

Entertainment news site Slash Film editor Peter Sciretta revealed that sources have indicated there is indeed another third MCU series in development for Disney Play joining previously announced Scarlet Witch and Loki miniseries.  Sciretta refused to go into specifics, citing that he was awaiting further confirmation from additional sources and an official comment from Disney.

While this doesn't confirm that a third MCU series on Disney Play would involve Nick Fury at all, it could possibly be a Kevin Feige-supervised replacement for ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which returns for a considerably shorter episode order during the summer season next year. Ratings have been steadily declining since its premiere in 2013 and a Marvel Studios' version of the series could live up to its initial promise of being tightly connected to the MCU proper.

In the meantime, audiences can next see Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury in Captain Marvel this March as a visibly younger incarnation of the character as well as July's Spider-Man: Far From Home. It is currently unknown if the character will appear in May's untitled Avengers sequel.
