Just in time for the 50th anniversary of Disney's "It's a Small World" attraction comes news that a film adaptation of the legendary ride is coming our way.

Deadline reports the theme park fixture will come to life as a film  by Jon Turteltaub, who will direct from a script written by Jared Stern. Exactly what will happen in the movie is really anyone's guess; "It's a Small World" isn't exactly known for its deep, rich storytelling and plot.

Then again, neither was "Pirates of the Caribbean," and that ride yielded four Johnny Depp movies. Perhaps all the It's a Small World movie needs is a little bit of Depp — although a certain computer thriller's box-office receipts might say otherwise.
