Disney and Pixar's coming-of-age fantasy feature Luca is getting a home media release.

A press release from Disney reads, "Escape to the beautiful Italian seaside town of Portorosso when Disney and Pixar's Luca arrives on digital, 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ and DVD on Aug. 3. The release touts a variety of bonus features including never-before-seen featurettes, deleted scenes and two alternate openings."

The featurettes will include "Our Italian Inspiration," in which Pixar artists will discuss their excursion to Cinque Terre and how the Italian Riviera town served as a guide to the film's setting and "Secretly a Sea Monster," in which they discuss the technical innovation for Luca's metamorphosis from sea monster to human and how the theme of transformation is central to the story. The "Best Friends" featurette features the cast and crew discussing their own real-life friendships and how those informed the relationships between the characters. There will also be a collection of deleted scenes and two alternate openings, introduced by Luca's director and co-writer Enrico Casarosa.

Upon its release, Luca was met with praise from critics and audiences alike. At the time of writing, the film has a Certified Fresh rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. The critics' consensus reads, "Slight but suffused with infectious joy, the beguiling Luca proves Pixar can play it safe while still charming audiences of all ages." CBR's Sandy Schaefer said of Luca "the studio's latest feature film is an enchanting tale that fits comfortably within the Pixar brand, yet brings its fanciful setting to life with a feeling of wonder and whimsy that's been lacking from some of the animation giant's more recent titles."

Directed by Enrico Casarosa, Luca stars Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli and Jim Gaffigan. The film is streaming on Disney+ and will be released on blu-ray on August 3.
